Tensional Integrity Workshop @JAMBUGALPAO

Hosted at Jambugalpão in São Paulo

Saturday February 7 & Sunday February 8 10:00-13:00

R$ 180 (for one), R$ 300 (for two)

This workshop focuses on cultivating skills moving off and on (mostly off) the external vertical. We will use the guide of our anatomical design and shape to find ease and opportunities for lofting and spiraling. Using our hands to walk and our spines to locomote, we will practice creative ways of moving in and out and around. Tensional support in balance with compressional forces allows for adaptability with ease, and a whole systems approach to force management. Together, we will practice pathways of entry; finding alignment for support and cultivating playful ways to engage in. Much of our dance training is on two feet. Sometimes the floor can feel so far away, but it is a place to slide and spin, to roll and move off balance. Moving on the floor invites new skills that are not entirely bipedal in nature, yet remain available to us. Working together, we can find pathways of non-vertical support, whether through eye contact, or touch. This class will focus on concepts and pathways that help with moving in and out of the floor, and exploring what is possible with omnidirectional support. Disorientation is a tool for learning. We will work with both solo and partner dancing.
