Background & Offerings

Nuria Bowart is a professional dancer and movement artist, a Certified Rolfer and practicing manual therapist, a graduated student and contramestra of Capoeira, and a Certified Teacher in the Axis Syllabus research network.

She carries over 25 years of research and practice in therapeutic, martial, and performing arts, music, yoga, western somatics, contact improvisation, experiential anatomy, functional biomechanics, and more. She is also a mother of two.

Currently Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Nuria teaches and performs internationally and works locally with clients and students within the following disciplines:

  • Dance and performance
  • Rolfing and manual therapy
  • Capoeira arts
  • Movement education

Upcoming performance: San Francisco Trolley Dances

This Fall I am engaged in a creative process with Epiphany dance productions. I will be performing with several talented female artists, including Kim Epifano, at the San Francisco Trolly Dances. Trolley Dances is an event where each artist performs several times in order to provide a constant stream of audiences the opportunity to wander through a new part of San Francisco and experience local performance art (primarily dance).

The same piece of work will be expanded into a larger work to be shown at Z-space December 5-8th, entitled Rock and Mortar
